Project Melo is a worldbuilding and speculative biology project by OCTAfan (@octahedral-chaos on Tumblr). Melo is a dwarf planet orbiting a red dwarf known as Passera, and was terraformed and colonised by humans in the distant past. However, these colonists left, leaving behind a wide variety of GMOs and hybrid organisms.
After many thousands of years, Melo is now home to a wide variety of unique organisms found nowhere else. One of the most unique organisms, and the main focus of this project, are Thylaraptors (Thylaraptor sapiens). Descended from hybrids between various marsupial and bird species, thylaraptors are Melo's lone sophont, being in the equivalent to our early computer age.
